BMW K12S/R12S In 24-hour Race At Oschersleben
Yep, I was looking at the qualifying for the riders. And seen BMW's R1200S, and also another private team with a BMW K1200S!
Here is the times, and qualifying. The BMW R1200S did a faster time then the K1200S. By about 4 seconds. http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=de&u=http://www.speedweek.de/&sa=X&oi=translate&resnum=1&ct=result&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dhttp://www.speedweek.de/index.php%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DG BMW is starting in 13th, and 25th place. The K1200S is no-where on the list. I think they might of dropped out. UPDATE!!!!!!!! A Hardley-Davidson has ALSO entered the 24 hour race. Its a Hardley-davidson VRSC RR. WOW!!!! Its fastest lap was a 1:37.946. Came in 44th of 55 race teams. Very impressive. It beat three different Yamaha teams, Suzuki team, KTM, Triumph, and MZ. Man I would love to see a picture of the bike! As I looked at the startgrid for tomorrow I do not see the Hardley-Davidson! I don't think they will be entering the race ![]() Other bikes new to the race are KTM, BMW, Buell/Harley Davidson, triumph, Suzuki and Yamaha as well as the Ducati Roadshow with the 1098 and the Hypermotard. I believe what they mean is new bikes. Because I know Suzuki, Yamaha, and Ducati has all ran in the race before.

Interesting to see is that the quickets lap of the R1200S was 1:32.734 compared to the quickest lap overall of 1:29.678 in lap 154 by nbr. 11 : Team Kawasaki France (Kawasaki ZX 10R). Those bikes normally have at least 40hp more....not bad

R12S holding 6th overall and 1st in open class after nine hours completed. Ducati out, Harley WAY down, and many 4 cylinder bikes well behind the aircooled twin. Who would have ever thought it!!!

Trounced everything else there with two cylinders and plenty of bikes with four cylinders and 45 more HP.
A great Win for BMW and we knew would happen. A fifth and a ninth. BMW puts TWO bikes in top ten of a field where most every other bike there had 30- 45 more HP than our air-cooled, "touring" based, R12S bike brother did. These first year bikes may become a instant classic if BMW were to go on and win the series in its class on their first year out. |

Was it really a K1200S or did it have the new 1000cc engine to test it under race conditions?
