Yes, yet another tire thread. Since it is almost winter here I am starting to get PMS, so I thought to ask about the rubbery stuff.

Anyone have experience with the Pirelli Supercorsa Pro on the R11S and care to share their thoughts and insights with me in street conditions? Handling characteristics? Are they still driveable on the street when its a little cooler out there, or do you really need to beat the ***** out of them to get any temperature in them before they start giving grip? Wet performance in the unplanned case of encountering wet roads?

I've run dragon supercorsa pro takeoffs from my race bike on my R1100S all summer long with no issues. Great tire, perhaps my favorite DOT Race tire at present. No experience with them in cooler climes, but I did do some highway miles in the rain with them and they were fine. I got about 5 trackdays and 3000 miles on the street, about what i get from a pilot power.

Well, my previous experiences with Conti do not warrant trying them out at this point in time. Besides, I am specifically interested in the Supercorsa Pro right now.

...the Buell's were shoed with Corsa III's and those things were brutally abused and incredibly sticky and nicely communicating!

Throttlemeister, if your experience with Continentals doesn't include the Road Attack or Sport Attack, then it's not a fair comparision. I used to hate Conti's and it took some extra effort from a rep with Continental for me to even try a set - discount included.
I LOVE them. Great in the wet, fantastic on dry pavement.
If you haven't tried the new Attack series, it's worth a look.

jduke: my experiences are with the Conti Road Attack and they were the same on 2 different bikes. Don't like them. Dry & warm, they are great (although the R11S can easily make powerslides with them), but in the wet they scare the ***** out of me. No more.

I wouldn't compare previous TK44 experiences with today's tires.

No wonder we stay away from tire and oil topics....
I found both Road Attack and Sport Attack to be some of the most planted feeling tires in the wet that I've ever been on.

I've posted this before. I didn't like the Road Attacks in the wet. Maybe it was just me . And then there was this. After a high speed run.

That's strange it would wear out on the edges from a high speed run. Looks like it was run with low tire pressure.

TM, I believe Jeff Williams uses them on his R1100S. He swears by them in all conditions and buys them 5 sets at a time...

Might want to give him a PM for more details. They look great to me but a little too pricey. Pilot Powers do well enough for me.

sorry I haven't looked at the thread yet heading to new york city in a few hours.
Here is what I know, I've used pirelli's sickest tires for the last 3 years in various names and tread patterns,(super corsa dragon, SCD pro,and now the Super corsa pro). The new super corsa pro is the best yet from pirelli. They changed the construction to make the edge stiffer and the center softer. This causes the patch to the ground to double in size.

They have increase the thickness of the tread and made it softer. The result is a tire that,for me, last about 2300 miles of hard riding,(rear). The older dragon,(last year), lasted 1800-2000 miles,(rear). They heat up faster and cool down slower. I've riden some in the wet and have had no problems sliding or washing out. they don't have the groves to help displace the water, but they're sticky so its not so bad that you cann't ride them. Since I'll never see the cold that you'll see on the continent I couldn't comment on it.
Yes I'll buy multi sets since the Ducati runs the same tire. But it keeps the price way down and affordable. BTW I've slid the ducati rear sideways while hammering it in a dirty corner so their is a limit to what these tires will do.
Bottom line, if you like the handling profile to this type of tire its the best.
