R1200S O2 Sensor

Has anyone experimented with disconnecting the O2 sensors on the R1200S, I had done this on the R11 with excellent results, the most immediate change was the disappearance of the throttle down backfiring, and overall smoother running and more power. My R12 has a full Remus exhaust, and the backfiring on down throttling is pretty prevalent. I think the Rapid Bike does not use the O2 sensors, but I am wondering if any one has experimented with disconnecting them without any FI management system, or will I be the first? If somebody knows of any reason I shouldn't try this, I am all ears.

sorry i cant help on this but its with your ears in mind that i give my opinion. i cant get enough of the popping and cracking - ooh its so lovely - you dont like it?

btw - i only have the remus silencer and havnt got backfiring, unless that popping crackling sound is what one considers to be backfiring - with the full system would i get more popping? and is backfiring bad for the bike? or just bad for the neighbourhood?

your electronic will go nuts, trying to detect the sensors... surefire way to eliminate the warranty!

I heard the same thing about the MOtronic not liking the removal of the cannister solenoid, guess what it doesn't care, I took mine off and it runs fine!. On the R11 removing the O2 sensors just sent the Motronic to the default rich map, I am wondering if the same thing happens with the R12. Chewie when I say backfiring, I mean popping.

Rapid Bike sells individual Lamba Eliminators. These are basically little black boxes that plug into the harness in place of the o2 sensors and send a false signal to the BMS-K. If you are going to use these they need to be coupled with some sort of fuel-injection controller that will allow you to set your air-fuel ratio manually on a dyno.

Nope. With the Techlusion I was using the 02 sensors. I started using these when I installed the Rapid Bike. I changed over to the Rapid Bike because it has a "quick-shifter". However, they should work with the Techlusion.

Don't bother. I did it and didn't like the results. The bike was flat. As far as the cannister, I can't imagine how removing it would effect the ECU since it's simply venting with a vacuum hose.

Mal - you did "what"? and didn't like the results? Did you just disconnect your lamdas and not replace them with anything in the loop? Do you have a fuel injection controller on your bike? Did you dyno it and get the air-fuel optimized? Just curious to know.

Simply removed them and capped off. That's it. I was curious how the motor would respond.

Different topics here I guess, but when I had the cannister pulled and we disconnected the solenoid, we got a fault. So, without riding the bike, we just left the solenoid inplace hooked up. Don't really think it matters one way or the other, but that's what I did.
Your results may vary.
