RIDENOW.COM Hosed me.

Well, I had the screen (clear) on special order from OFD and would have it this month, BUT I emailed ride.now who said they had it in stock and I would have it last friday. I paid for it and OFD was nice enough to cancel my special order.

Friday I got an email from ridenow that they didn't have it in stock, but would and it would ship on friday.

Today I got a message they have no clue when it would ship.

I'm hoping they try to rectify this - I am POd.

m

update - Ridenow just called making excuses - it seems that they had it in stock when they took my payment, but did not actually order it from the distributor until later and by then it was sold. They offered to refund my money, which should help keep the wind off my chest as I drive to Colorado next month.

Hang in there, it was the same with mine and I almost returned it. However, about 10 to 15 minutes of little dremmeling, a giggle here & there and it will/should fit in. Also, as for fit/attachment, it does not fit in the same easy manner as stock (heck - it's only $80 some odd dollars), but found that it's fit is very "acceptable", but more importantly I found that it is "much" better than stock, and approaches the old 11S type wind protection.

...Ralf ; this is what I wrote on page 1...

…so…

…does it fit as nicely as the original BMW screen…?

…nope…
…not quite
…you can almost throw the stock screen at its place…
…and the Puig screen needs a bit of fiddling around…
…and those screen clips on the OEM part do fit a (tiny) bit better…

I got mine from wilzgarage and it did fit. As said....not an OEM drop in replacement, but no dremeling either. I had to slide the screen in on the front and attach each side separately to pull it out a bit. My only complaint is that I ordered smoke and got black, but that's OK. I'll use the stocker in the summer and the Puig in winter.

if I attach in on one side, the other on top is 1 1/2" away from the clips!!!... the front does not fit either... does not fill out the space... let alone that the clips don't hold the screen in place! the "feet" are smaller and thinner and slide through the metal clips... no way in hell I want to ride around with that... I'd always count the time until it falls off...

Mike, "only" $80 is still a lot of money... right now I am putting this in relative terms, as I just got back from a country where kids are happy with bicycles that have not tires... so, I beg to differ... I think that $80 for a few ounces of extrudes plastic is a LOT of money... especially if it does not do what it's supposed to!

Not good. Send it back. Mine went on as described in 3 minutes. It feels pretty solid in the mounts...no worries here.

That's odd, because there is no way the screen would come loose with the clips engaged, they clamp on the fairing.

SIGH, just my continued luck with ANYTHING... if there is a product on the shelf that is faulty, rest asured I am the one getting it... been the story of my life!

Same with the camera I just bought... my friend ordered his the same time, mine crapped out during my vacation... his is just fine... kind of funny, actually! It's been to the point where I really don't have to many expectations anymore...

I ordered dark smoke and that's what I got. The fit has been well doc'ed previously, and I encountered the same. I'm thinking that as the part ages in the sun, perhaps the outer surface will shrink (hopefully not crack) and the part will actually fit better over time. The tabs are definitely not going to improve with age, but mine didn't require dremmeling to get it in. Out of curiousity, where did folks apply the dremmel? The screen (tabs) or the clips?

I had to dremmel/file on “2” of the “4” tabs. Also, I don’t see age/sun affecting the shape or tabs of the Puig over time, but time will tell. Also, at 4K miles my stock screen was getting pretty funky looking from noticeable scratch/swirl marks no matter how careful I was during the cleaning process. With the Puig, I feel you get less scratch resistant plastic, may not fit as well, but offers better wind protection at approximately a 1/3 the price of factory one..such a deal as they say.
