Question Throttle body sync using twinmax

Hi everybody,

Ive no doubt that this has been covered many times on this forum but does anyone have a definitive step by step guide on how to sync TB's on a 2003 1100S using a Twinmax.

Ive read Jon Diaz's ' Throttle syncing for R1100's' who uses a Carbtune. It seems pretty straight forward but I'm thinking of buying a Twinmax which I believe is more accurate.

Thanks, Beemercobby.

Thanks signit98,
Your right, theres plenty of info and then some on that link. Can I ask, is it safe to assume that the high rev adjustment takes place on the right side throttle cable for all model years. Is the cable set up different on my 2002 model compared to a 98 or a 99?

Thanks, Beemercobby

...ought to be the same.

I do idle with the brass screw and then 3000 rpm and 4000 rpm with the cable... works like a charme!

I have a carbtune and it's not very accurate. Metal rods (dry) in plastic tubes, on springs. Never used a twinmax.

But for about 4 bucks, a clear plastic tube, in a loop with some ATF inside, each end hooked to the vacuum ports works better and faster than anything else.

The liquid manometer are pretty good, but a bit bulky to store and use.
Also useless for real tests under load, which is what really matters -- Not how your bike runs in neutral on the centerstand.
Real tuning requires real tools. (but the liquid units ARE OK and certainly better than nothing)

Thanks for your replies everyone. I've decided to go down the Twinmax route. I'll probably order one in the new year which is when I'll be back on the forum with the ' HELP I've screwed up my tuning' heading.

Thanks, Mal.

I still have one but it will not help with sync.

COLORTUNE??? Wow, I'd almost forgotten about that. I'll have to go home and see if I can find mine. Now that was an example of "toy money". Nice to look at, but that was about it.
