Wheel Chock

I just bought one of these wheel chocks the other day off of e-bay. I have a Baxley and it specs out almost the same. I don't think you can beat it for the money. It is 50.00 / plus 20.00 S.H. I'll let you know how it compares when I get it.

How did you like the Chock?

I have considered a Baxley, but it seems a little pricy for what I would use it for, basically holding the bike so I can put it on the rear stand. Probably not as expensive as dropping the bike would be though.

I have also considered building one.

Let us know how you like it.

Thanks

for my last two bikes, i bought my bike racks before i even got the bikes.
these babies bolt to the floor, are rock steady, you can ride right into them and step off.

expensive, but they last forever.

The $50 elcheapo stands belong with the $20 helmets. (dumpster stuffing)
They can appear just fine, until you need them to work. Too late then.
Never got the idea of either of those combined with $5-$25k bikes.

I got to try out the e-bay stand a couple of days ago. There are two problems with it.

1) The REAR of the shoe is about 3/8" from being flush on the floor. So when you roll into it
the front of the stand lifts. (It can be modified and will be).

2) The shoe and the vertical V could be a thicker gauge steel. Making it stronger. The shoe can be made stronger by welding side plates on like the Baxley.

The stand will hold the Bike (r1100s , 900ss ducati ) ok.

I will use it for the Duke ,100lbs. lighter than the BMW. The S will get the Baxley.

The Baxley is better hands down , and for everyday use. The e-bay one is fine for ocassional
maint use.

My friend bought one for his BXC and bent the shoe down in the rear. It now sits flush on the
floor. He also had to compress the shoe sides in to fit around the tire better after it is rolled in.
It makes it easy to get the belly pan off by yourself and for oil changes and maint. It worked out ok, for what he wants to do with it. A little reverse engineering and you have a decent stand for the MONEY.

Harbor Frieght had one like the Condor , but has pulled it off thier site. It was 70.00. It may show up again.

Anyone have any experience with either the original red or big blue lifts on this website? If so was it good and where would you get it in the USA?

Thanks

i've seen both of those lifts and i was surprised at how sturdy they are. seems like the brits got the balancing act down pretty well.
the one i fiddled had a H-D bagger on it and it sat rock solid. i think that would exceed the weight of the bmw.

trying to remember where i got the bike rack. i sent an email to the guys in england and they turned me on to a guy here on the left side of the usa. took about a week for delivery. he ordered it for me, they shipped from the UK directly.
