Oil Cooler Screen R1200s

Hi,

I got some great instructions from jerry duke on installation of a home-made oil cooler screen for an R11s, but wondered whether the procedure for the R12s was dramatically different?

Do I need to remove the large torx (T50?) that hold the headlamps in?
Do I need to remove both side panels or does the front come off?
For removing the mirrors, do I need to cut both side ties? (the R11s indicates just one?)

Thanks in advance,
Michael

Well after removing all the panels Ill answer my own question-

it is SIMPLE to remove the front - just remove the mirrors and 4 bolts - done.
the part that slipped me up was the rubber grommet fastener that just pops off.

Unlike the R11s though, there is no easy way to affix the screen - I think the wunderlich version comes with epoxy.

They sell epoxy in the same place you buy the screen. Cost way less than Wunderlich. Buy a spray can of paint that suits your liking while there. Looks good, cost less and did it yourself, what more can you ask for?

Good idea, poor concept

I was hoping to adhere it without chemical adhesives - Had a good idea, to thread a wire around the mesh and twist it to tighten (like a c-clamp, which would have been the best way...)

I put mine in with hot glue 12000 miles ago and have only touched it up once on one edge on one of the screens. Wouldn't have gone anywhere or really mattered if I hadn't, tho. The hot glue hurts nothing and can be completely removed if you have a need.
