Work?.... there is that word again... SIGH
|
...work, work, work, yuck, work, work, yuck, yuck, work... ;)
|
Hmmm...
|
Yeah... I second that, being that this thread was started quite a while ago! HURRY UP!
|
...ha, ha, ha ; very funny Robert !!... :D
...but I couldn't find the time yesterday to post a little story... ; amongst other things, my wife told me she wants to get her motorcycle driving license, and I should sell the RT, in order to get a bike for her... ...I'm still in some sort of a shock... |
She got her eye on anything Ron?
Duc's are popular with the ladies over 'ere. My Mrs is getting f800s - order instructions : "Must be yellow" Still trying to convince her that the S1000R is more her cup of tea...:D |
...guess what ; she wants the same kind of bike Henrike (Dutch girls name) owns...
...and Henrike rides a R1100S... ...OMG... ...I think she suffers from some sort of female-mid-life crisis... Henrike and her S http://i622.photobucket.com/albums/t...GirlR1100S.jpg |
kewl, nice choice! is she a red freak too? :D
|
Geez Ron,
Go buy yourself a one off RED HP2S and give the missus the R12S :D Ant |
Well Ron, she has impeccable taste in bikes. Question is, what are you gonna get? Since your 12S does not see any rain or other stuff that can make it dirty, you will need something for you two to go on vacation with. Another BCR? :D

RoLoo-
If you really love her, which I know you do, start her out on something smaller(and used) that she can handle and be comfortable using. This way you will get to go bike shopping again when her skills improve and she can handle a bigger bike. Watched my own wife flop a new 750 Monster on the ground four times in two weeks, when she got back into riding. That was with 10 years of riding in her background before we had children. Poor Monster, it almost made me cry. |

D-yno-Day !
…last Wednesday ; together with good-old-PP-member Throttlemeister, we went to Goes (pronounce as Goose), for a few runs, and adjusting the RapidBike at Ruud Fredriks place (www.tovami.com)... …the day started cold, and wet, and with a bit of fog… …not the best circumstances for an almost 200 miles trip, in my thin (leather) Berik suit… Wednesday morning : cold, wet, and somewhat foggy http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...8Image0003.jpg …around lunchtime I picked up TM, and after a coffee, Goes wasn’t far anymore… around lunchtime : Throttlebike & RoLooscoot http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...8Image0007.jpg …03.00 PM at Ruud’s place ; my turn… Ruud’s place http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...8Image0017.jpg …the S got secured, warmed up nicely, and the fun started… http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...8Image0008.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...8Image0009.jpg …first thing he noticed : a lean mixture, due to the now cat-less headers, and due to the open Lasers… …apparently ; free flow pipes and cans, means lean mixture… …but with a bit of fiddling around on his laptop, the Meister-tuner gave the RapidBike better A/F settings, and from that moment on, he could find a few more weak spots due to the changed hardware… http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...8Image0012.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...8Image0016.jpg …and after 10 (loud !) runs : the charts…! …more than a year ago, we started with this (stock headers + stock exhaust + RapidBike1)… …note : all figures are rear wheel figures ! http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...keuitdraai.jpg ...last Wednesday : the result (for now...) ...(cat-less headers + Lasers + RapidBike1)... http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r.../uitdraai1.jpg …you see ; there is more torque around 2300 RPM, and that's very noticeable… …the bike runs smoother in the very low RPM’s… …and torque builds up faster… …this strange dip around 5100 RPM isn’t gone, but this somewhat weird thing is ; due to revving up much faster, you don’t notice it, and I truly had this feeling, this dip was completely gone after ditching the cat., simply because it felt that way … …but, surprise, surprise, the chart tells us a different story… …from some 5250/5300 RPM the motor really comes to live, and you can see how much more torque there is around 6000 RPM (this upper pink line)… …of course the same story regarding the horses… …the third line (the red one) shows us the new found HP curve… …and pushing hard through gears ; quite nice if you ask me… ...129 rear wheel (peak) horses... ...144 at the crank... http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r.../uitdraai2.jpg …of course I asked the question regarding this dip around 5200 RPM, and the Meister-tuner told me, we had to find it in this now somewhat big volume where that cat. once was… …and that’s probably the reason why those aftermarket header-boys use somewhat smaller tubes in diameter… …maybe, maybe not… …I don’t know… …and the bike…?? …well ; the thing runs like crazy…!! …smooooooooooth & fast... …the power, and torque gain in these cold figures aren’t that dramatic, but on the open road, barking through gears is an absolute joy … …and as a bonus ; very economical !... …I can do easily 20 kilometer on 1 liter… …a few weeks back, I thought about selling the S, and getting me a Guzzi 1200 Sport… …boy ; glad I didn’t… ...but what can we learn : letting the cat. out of a set of stock headers + a bit of TIG welding + adjusting the RapidBike = low cost & big fun !... . |
Nice!
Next week I am going to install and tune RB3 on my R12S. So I hope for similar improvement ;) . I have Zard muffler + HPE headers with high-flow cat + BMC. I wanted to have ABE approved system, but now I am little bit scared about the power loss due to the cat. Is it possible to share your RB maps? To use them as starting point for my tunning? |
Thanks for posting Ron. I love this kinda thread. SmileWavy
Too bad Peter F in Greece doesn't seem to have a tuner that can take advantage of the Rapid bike. Those are great numbers considering the internals of your bike is stock! |
I have my dyno run scheduled for April 4th, I can't wait to see what my mods get me! :)
|

2) don't be ; you said it yourself, a high-flow cat. I had the stocker, and the thing was very far from anything like high-flow... 3) sadly no ; the map isn't on my computer... |

Super impressive !! I have been lurking and following this thread with great anticipation.
A question for Robert Foster or another FRK expert - if I was to de-cat some stock headers as Ron has done, and use a high-flow filter (PiperCross, etc.) could I achieve some of his performance results by adding an FRK module to my bike? I do not have access to a dyno so I'm ruling out a RapidBike module for the moment. In other words, if RoLoo did not have a RapidBike, could he combat some or all of the new lean-ness caused by the cat removal with an FRK module? Thanks in advance. George |
Very Nice Ron!
Greetings Ron,
Congratulations on your success! You did it nicely and now have a nice gain at all throttle positions! I can say that above statement as I know how Mr. Ruud Fredericks tunes... Very Very Well - IN EVERY CELL - TP X RPM! Enjoy! Enjoy! Enjoy!SmileWavy |
So what did you determine you were getting at the crank if you are seeing 125 RWHP, seems like a bunch!
|
Quote:
...so, 100% would be : 138,3 at the crank... ...129,5 peakpower (when shifting gears), 90% = 143,9 HP at the crank (100%) |
I think your 129HP number is an artifact of measurement during the gear change, not a real delivered value. But the 124.5 certainly looks real. Either way about 140HP at the crank which is very nice. I am guessing my bike is in the same ballpark, maybe a slight bit more, I will find out next Saturday!
|

...but 129,5 sounds nice... :D |
Yes, yes, yes..., very old thread..., I know..., but I'm sorry, due to switching from Photobucket, to SmugMug a few years ago, all the linked (Photobucket) pictures are gone...
Wanna see the pictures ? Just PM me... ;) |
Oh..., and still got the bike btw..., not using it, but still got it... ;)
August 2017 ; last time I had 'her' out... https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-...n9wPz4W-XL.jpg After only some 30 miles, it started to rain..., so..., I hurried back home, and never used the S ever since... :o From July 2006, up to now, it only did some 12.350 miles... https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-...XQjrFqT-XL.jpg |
So pretty! Thanks for the update.
|
Stunning!;)
|
I remember you putting ‘wavy’ front discs on your bike. Tell me I’m not going senile!
Or was it another bike you had? 1100S? It must’ve been on Boxertrix ... |
Good memory !
And not senile at all. Indeed on the R1100S ; many, many moons ago (2005...) https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-.../i-qJWsMtP.jpg https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-.../i-KPTNZhK.jpg https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-.../i-SwXhB9D.jpg |
