'04 R1100S spark plug change -n00b help!

Okay. I feel like a total newbie considering i'm asking how to change my spark plugs. I pulled the boot on both sides of the valve cover and I tried a 15mm and even a 5/8" deep socket with a extension and couldn't reach the spark plug!

It seems the hole is too narrow. Do I need to pull the valve cover to swap the spark plug? Also, where are the other two spark plugs (I believe the twin sparks have four??)

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

Use the spark plug socket in your toolkit. The second sparkplugs are under the cylinders. You might need to get on the ground to see them. You really need a repair manual to help with a lot of the things you can do on these bikes. I know where to download the single spark models but not the twin. Do a Google search and see what comes up. Good luck.

It is a 5/8", but it is a very tight fit, and only a very thin wall socket or plug wrench will fit. The factory tool kit contains a plug wrench that will reach without removing the valve covers. Is your tool kit missing? Not sure of the location for the second plug as I have a single spark, but it is reportedly on the bottom of the cylinder head under a plastic cover, 11/16". Factory plug tool will fit both.

Thanks guys. I didn't think that any special "tooling" would be needed to change sparkplugs. I'll look under the seat tomorrow.
