Clear Front Turn Signal - Help
I have been trying to find a retailer online who sells the clear front turn signal lens for the R1100S (like what comes standard on a BCR) for a reasonable price AND who will ship to Australia - without much success. A & S BMW in California sell them but don't ship out of the USA or Canada. My local BMW dealer wants an arm and a leg for them, so that aint happening. Various German sellers also want body parts...
Anyone know where I can get a set for a reasonable price???? Anyone got a set they don't want ...? They'll look better on my bike than yours - you know it's true LOL. I love my colour scheme but orange lens with a yellow background clashes big time. The clear lens will look seriously trick. I already have the clear rear blinker lens which is much easier to come by. Help R1100S fashionistas...

Not sure if they have them, but I bout mine for the 12s from Nippy Normans in the UK.
Nice people, good service. I've had 2 orders so far. The dollar is pretty sucky at the mo against the pound, but they should do them. Ant

Yeah, thanks Ant/Chewie - I already checked those guys...
Nippy Norman doesn't stock the front lens and Motohansa charges $105 each lens, which I consider a serious rip-off for a tiny piece of clear plastic! But it seems if I want them bad enough - like all of us who love our machines - I'll pay too much to keep my donkey tricked up. Hey Ant, did you do the Snowy Ride last November? I kept an eye for Chewie but there was so much great riding and so many bikes, not sure if I saw ya... |

Paypal someone funds and have them buy it and send it to you (have someone from a different state order them... no sales tax).

Have you tried Chicago BMW? They are 20% off dealer prices and may be willing to ship to the land down under.

Thanks for all the suggestions everybody. I've emailed Chicago BMW - hopefully they're willing to post to Oz.
The exchange rate is the killer. By the time you pay $85 Aussie for your $60 US and then add shipping, the price ends up being the same as available here i.e. way too much! Thanks again... |

I've had pretty good luck with Chicago BMW. I always order by phone. They're not real chatty, but the guy I usually speak with sometimes suggests other parts I might need for a certain job. I think he told me they do all their non-stocked ordering on Tuesdays. So, if you call them on Wed. to place an order, you're waiting six more days before they move on it. I ordered some filters last Tues. and had them on Thurs. Oddball parts have taken 7-10 days. I still think the German eBay page is the best. All of them say they don't ship to the US, but most will if you email and ask them. Just scored a NIB set of R1200S side cases for $493 delivered from a guy on there.

Markus, if you want I can purchase them for you from Chicago BMW and ship them USPS Priority Mail for around $15 USD. I can get a total for you in USD and you can Paypal me the total in USD if the numbers add up right for you. I have shipped a few sets of triple clamps to AUS and the shipping was very reliable and fast. RodMac got his parts in less than 48 hours with a 6-10 day estimate on shipping.

Hey Rick Lee, thanks for the German Ebay tip. Yeah, they have a lot of stuff for the R11S but unfortunately for Aussies the Euro/Aust.$ exchange rate is almost 2 for 1. Translating gets interesting, also. Plus, the postage is even further than the US - in fact Sydney/LA is 14 hours direct flight. Sydney/Europe is 21+ hours (with stopover)... the + depends on how strong the jetstream is on any particular day.
I used to work for QANTAS... before anyone thinks I'm an aviation nut (planespotter?!?) who has nothing better to do than memorise flight times from all over the world LOL! |

Markus - I own a 2001 yellow bike also and went to the clear lenses this winter and I'll never go back. I think it really updates the looks of the bike.
