My son a rock star??? Free Music

Sorry to bore some of you... but I have made some close friends on this board...

Bear with me a bit since I am proud of my sons ambition... Granted his taste in music is not the same as mine... Not even sure it is Music

About a year ago my 16 year old son started a band. They got a few gigs locally, then got a break when the booking person for the Village (Concert Venue in Little Rock) heard them play at Vino's (bar in Little Rock) My son wrote most of the music, and plays lead guitar.
They just spent 2 days in Austin, AR at a recording studio...

Remember they are 16 year old kids.....

Sounds like they have some musical talent................but they need a new lead singer.........IMHO.

Now Conway is on the musical map, they should exploit every chance they get.

Maybe go completely opposite of the current singer...................................

That sort of music isn't my cup of tea. It's the younger gens that seem to get off on it, still...no surprise there.

They sound tight, that guy (assuming guy from the background vocals on the 2nd track) on the double kick must be interesting to watch. I had a double kicker on my drum kit, it was pretty cool though I on the other hand...

Good on 'em Bill, they have got a bit of a break and put some music down and that's brilliant.

I hope they are well received by their peers and I wish them and your Son great success!!

Thanks... Not what my Ipod has in it either... But at 16 I didn't have that much drive to go out and do stuff. Yes the Drummer is a guy and uses a double bass pedal.
The Bass Player is the only girl in their band. My son is on the left red yellow shirt.

The boy practices, works hard, puts together a band, and gets his first CD cut at what....... age 17. Then what happens, his old man posts the music on the internet for free before he sells one CD.

Sounds good for the type of music that it is. I could imagine hearing that as background music for Wrestlemania or a Monster Garage type of thing.

Garage well insulated?

good luck to him and his band. What they are trying to accomplish isn't easy and life lessons can be hard and come from unexpected directions.
My son is involved with a few major artist, one pop another rap. Even at their level its 16 hour days 30 days on 2 days off, and both artist are the top of their music genre. My daughter is taking a break from the entertainment law firm is was interning at. Their client's include include metalica and the kid who invented guitar hero.She had heard stories about how difficult it can be. Both kids say that the one common factor is that the artist is driven to excel in their field and never quits no matter what anyone says.

They have a place with a stage where they practice...

Thanks so much for the insight. This is all new to me... I was hoping he would lose interest, or at least change genre. When he was younger, I had a friend of BB King, teaching him how to bend strings, play blues, and classic rock... I was getting a return on my investment.. then he changed to this stuff...

Bill,
according to my son, the best lyrics were written in the 60's and the 80's has some of the best music. But today their is a lot of very good music being done,(as well as a lot of the oposite

). Most of the good ones have their roots and inspirations from the BBkings, and stevie rays, and all the rest. Look at it this way, he didn't change as much as he grew, he used what he knew and now he is taking his own path. It will be interesting where it leads.
The two people my son works with one ,(kanye), started out as a backup singer, and the other one,(GAGA), started singing in a bikini at clubs in new york at 17-18. They are driven people and their parents didn't like some of the stuff they were doing in the beginning.
they got used to it.

Bill you must be proud!! He's doing something he enjoys and it entertains him and his cronies. Atleast you know where he is when he's making music with the squad. Good luck to you and too them.

Congrats also on raising a fine young man, like Dee says you know where he is at. My Mrs mum has been a primary school teacher for ever and there is no doubt that Parenting determines almost single handedly how the kids will turn out.
