The other option is install Ohlins or sport shocks and the bike rolls right unto the center stand with almost no lifting effort . I always grab the rear louvers as leverage.

Thanks for the reply but what rear louvers? All I can grab is the system case rack and my hand won't fit. Am I missing something?

Right behind the seat, the plastic where the seat lock is located. I believe they call it the Luggage Grid. It has 2 large openings, I just grab the left side & use it as a handle.

Thanks but that won't work for me with my tail trunk. There has got to be a handle similar to the Wunderlich set up that will work. I am also confused as to why BMW calls the Luggage Grid a Luggage Grid when there is not any luggage for it?

I agree, even a small rack would give anchoring to carry something, but there's a muffler really close. Wouldn't want to end up like this!:eek:

Center Stand Handle Riser Solution
 

Hi all,
There is a simple solution to the replacement of the center stand handle riser for those bikes that have the system case hardware. Look below. All that is needed is a simple handle that will attach to the two bolts that the white arrows are pointing to. Actually it will slip in between the passenager foot hardware and the system case hardware. The handle riser will need a little offset to clear the system case bar, probably 1/4 inch.

I believe the guard behind the footpeg mount is upside down. It should be above to keep the pipe covered. I replaced mine with a carbon piece & noticed less heat on my leg. As for the handle it should work fine there. Perhaps a couple tabs fabricated to hold it off the bags.

Thanks for the guard advice. I didn't know where it went the PO didn't have the passenger peg or case rack on the bike. I had to buy the system cases and all mounting hardware.
The system cases are far enough away from this area that you don't have to worry about them getting in the way.

i always thought the use of a separate handle bar to get the R11S on it's centerstand was unnecessary. just grab the left grip, stomp firmly on the foot peg and she will roll back and up pretty easily. i am on a 99. system cases and all.

BTW - the case mounts are fine if you need to get a hold - just rotate your wrist and face front - pretty comfy that way.

Would it make much difference with stock shocks if the spring preload is cranked to max? I'm sort of a big fella, so usually have the preload set pretty high. I do NO hand lifting on the case mounts or anywhere else, only steady the left grip and step most of my (considerable !) weight on the centerstand lever. Goes on to the stand very easily...

Learned to put the weight on the centerstand lever with GS850/1000G's back in the day...those beasts were somewhat heavy. LOL

Also....seems the shorter paralever arm might be helpful too....

For sure factory side case holder instructions call for removal of the handle ... as well as the heat shield fitted behind it.

As noted elsewhere, it's all about foot pressure on the centerstand and NOT about lifting at this location. Hold on to the case holder just to keep things balanced. You could grab it with just two fingers, i.e. thumb and index and you'd be fine.

I've never seen a handle like this for the R1100S. It looks like something from an RT. The 'S easily pops up on it's center stand using the rear rub frame as a grabbing point.
