...and I can finally pick up the bike at the painter tomorrow...
...the thing is already there for some 7 or maybe 8 weeks...

...haven't seen the result yet, and the only thing I know is that its red and silver, with black stripes, and with painted (!) 'sponsor' logo's...

...and according to the painter, it looks fresh...

...we'll see...

@Ro Loo: Nice work. My choice would be #1. The bracket and fastener as shown in posting #45 on page 3 is awesome ! I will copy them if you allow it ;)

@shreddr: Jeff your message box is full ! Can't send you a pm.

Lars, I took care of it, jeez those mailboxes don't hold too much do they?

Sofatester 05-15-2010 11:09 AM

No. But they are cheap, so I don't complain about it. ;)

Worth the wait I'd say!

shreddr 05-15-2010 12:39 PM

your bike looks great Ron, its one of the nicest R12's on the forum ;)

i like the candy cane scheme on the pan better than the black you had before.

regarding the "decals", while the paint work is certainly impressive, I prefer nothing, and i actually think decals are better only for the simple reason, that if you decide you want Bridgestones and an Akrapovic exhaust, then what? i am guessing you have "committed" to Michelin and Laser, so no worries! SmileWavy

RoLoo 05-15-2010 12:54 PM

...what's an Akrapovic...? ;)

...never had a black one ; that was just the CF finish...
...due to the long winter we had over here I couldn't bring the bike to the painter...

Just the best looking R12S exhaust system;):

No joke-your bike looks great!!

Sofatester 05-16-2010 01:26 AM

No. Beauty is in the eye of the spectator. imho Viagrapovic is better. :DSmileWavy

@RoLoo: Congratulations. The manifold and the bellypan look like the bike should have looked off the assembly line.
Do you get free tyres, free oil or free suspension service or even money ? ;)
I'd have avoided the stickers, but that's only my personal 2ct. :)

Sweet Tooth for Eye Candy

RoLoo I have to admit the Candy Cane was my least favorite of the original paint schemes from BMW, but you have one THE MOST STUNNING EXAMPLES OF A BEAUTIFUL R1200S out there to date. I love the work and detail, congrats and enjoy the riding as much as the eye candy.

Droptarotter 07-12-2010 01:06 AM

It'll buff out...........damn.....that's sad on such a nice looking bike.

I think it's time for the bike to move into the house away from all the dangerous tools.

Cheers

Guest24 07-12-2010 05:49 AM

That sucks. It's really close to the decal as far as blending in the touch-up.

P.S.
just because some folks call the 12S "agricultural" doesn't mean you have to store it in the "equipment shed," Ron.:D

Ron;
You better not let her see what you wrote or it might be you that gets a garden tool upside the head?

Watch out!

Fenring 07-12-2010 09:23 AM

All-round beautiful work on those bikes guys. Congrats.
But I have to say... those belly pans... I really really hate them. They make the bike look fat and weird and it's just like an alien piece of plastic hanging from the bottom. Am I the only one that feels that way?

You are not alone Fenring, you and I can retire to the bar and have a good rant about the advent of form over function in the world.

Yeah, something along those lines. I mean, the belly pans, especially RoLoo's SmileWavy, really look very pretty, and very unnecessary. We have a saying, which would nicely describe exactly what's going on here, but it'd be lost in translation, and might cause slight offense as well, so i won't. :D

Then again, maybe it's just my envy at those nifty HPE pipes talking.

You mean like an udder hanging down under the saggy jugs? ;)

There, I said it for you. No translation necessary. ;) SmileWavy

Actually, one of the things I like about the S is that is has so little body work that anything below the engine seems superfluous, because the engine itself is such a focal point. On a full-fairing bike like the RT or ST, it seems more necessary to extend the bodywork below the engine, but it seems pretty extraneous on the S.

However, RoLoo did an excellent job with the paint scheme and decals, so I can't really fault him for that, but I know what you mean, fenring.
