Don't worry Ralf. I was born in Patagonia and I can tell you that is a really beautiful place.
So you can take that comment as a compliment. :)

signit98 11-23-2009 04:02 PM

Thank you, Martin... in any case, if that trip develops, I'll start an intense Interviewing process with you... ;)

AZ-Twin 11-23-2009 06:00 PM

Nice GS Sergio, and congrats on the Sticky!!!!! You are just like Metaljockey on ADV, he got a sticky after one post on his most recent ride report.

SergioK 11-23-2009 06:47 PM

Thank you... the best part of a new bike... the farkleization!

I must have missed that sticky... linky?

Sticky down now, RR over, another great report from him though.

You will need to spend more time on ADV now that you have a GS, that is just the way it is. :)

AndrewA 11-23-2009 07:00 PM

This metaljockey RR was intense.

Roger,

Please change the name of this thread to "ADV Links" and delete all the Sergio crap. :D

Except for his Wonder Horse ride.... pic.

AZ-Twin 11-23-2009 07:42 PM

I thought that was on ADV by now, can't someone just post a link to that thread?

ckcarr 11-24-2009 12:56 AM

Beware what you ask for because you might just get it!
It's easy to ask for a sticky...

But not so easy to get it removed! :)

SergioK 11-24-2009 06:21 AM

Craig is a bad influence... this thread is undeniable proof thereof!

BMWSaint 11-24-2009 06:31 AM

Now that Sergio's Sticky is in place and farkelization is commencing, we simply need to change the name of the forum to:
BMW R1100S / R1200S / R1200GS Tech Forum! :D

SergioK 11-24-2009 06:47 AM

What about the thousands... err... hundreds.... err dozens(?) of HP2 Sport owners?

Actually, since I have a GS and a Sport, can we just rename the place (for a day at least), to the Pelican Parts GS/HP2S forum? Heck, since I'm asking that much, let's just name it Sergio's backyard. :p

EZ-RIDER 11-24-2009 04:33 PM

Sergio tell me now that you have had it for a few days, how would you rate it compared to the R1100S

SergioK 11-25-2009 10:06 AM

The more I ride it the more I like it.

It's a different experience on the GS, especially since it has a tall Cee Bailey's windscreen. I get no direct airflow except for on my arms. The wind clears the top of my helmet. I will most definitely buy a shorty Aeroflow screen for the summer months. I find it MUCH easier to ride, especially with the 'power steering'. The bars are so wide I'm dumbfounded by the ease of use. I don't like the vario cases though... functional for the city but the left side bag is a joke. I think if I had the top case it would be a different matter.

I'm contemplating some Micatech bags... maybe for Christmas... and since Orthodox Christians celebrate the arrival of the three kings on the 6th of January, maybe I'll get Ohlins on that date too. :D

What I miss about my 11S... the exhaust tone. The Laser with Ypipe left me intoxicated with aural pleasure! :) The brakes... the wavy rotors would bite like a ravaged dog! The Dymag CF rims... bliss... oh yeah!!! Oh, and the Ohlins. A couple car buddies saw my transition from the 11S to the 12GS and when one of them saw the bike he said: "Dude, that thing is UGLY. If I were you, I'd crash it on purpose the next time you crash." http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/ima...lies/laugh.gif

BMWSaint 11-25-2009 10:16 AM

Love my Givi Maxxi topcase, btw. I only use the side cases (Jesses) for touring now.

SergioK 11-25-2009 11:11 AM

I don't know what it is... but I just can't stand the sight of a Givi case. I find it absolutely abhorrent. I know functionality rules over form, but ugh... http://scts.323ci.net/forum/images/smiles/throwup.gif

In most cases I would agree wholeheartedly with you. In this case it becomes the mantra (and the continued attraction) of my GS. ;)

SergioK 11-26-2009 06:47 AM

I'm going to stick this in here just because I can! :D

I've been cooking a turkey on Thanksgiving for the past several years and I thought I'd share the ever so simple process.

I start with a small 12lbs to 14lbs free range bird, a couple apples, an orange, a pear or two, a couple onions and a stalk of celery. Salt, pepper, Colman's mustard powder and some white wine.

First, chop up the fruits and veggies:

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1259249655.jpg

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1259249671.jpg

I don't chop up the orange just yet. This time around I had some unripened persimmons so I added them to the batch as well. (one pear, and two small persimmons).

Clean up the bird, really all I do is wash it down.

Get a large oven bag and lace the inside with a tablespoon or two of flour. Place bag inside a potroast pan of some sort. Layer the bottom of the bag with approx 1/4 of the mixture of chopped fruit and veggies then place the bird on top of the mixture.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1259249854.jpg

Now, stuff the inside of the bird with the rest of the mixture. There should be leftover veggies and fruit which you then spread around the bird.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1259249917.jpg

Wash the orange and zest the entire thing. Spread the orange zest over the bird's skin along with the mustard powder, salt and pepper.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1259249998.jpg

Then, slice up the orange into very thin slices as such:

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1259250059.jpg

Oh, I forgot that you have to open the bottle of wine just before you start slicing. Proceed with small sips of wine throughout the entire preparation process. :D

Place the slices of orange on top of the bird.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1259250206.jpg

Pour in about two cups of wine, seal the bag, then poke a couple holes in it.

Place in over at 350F for about 3-4 hours depending on the size of the bird.

I haven't started to make the gravy yet and I'll show ya what I do with that (the neck, liver, etc get used for the gravy).

bradzdotcom 11-26-2009 07:03 AM

who the hell gave martha stewart sergio's id and password?
crap, we'll never get rid of her now.

SergioK 11-27-2009 04:15 PM

I tried to fight her off but man, she's one tough woman! I think her time in the slammer honed her into this menacing tyrant. Next time she barges into my kitchen like that, I'll pick up the phone and ring you for suggestions (I've put your # on speed dial). Thanks Brad!

NakedRider 11-28-2009 06:47 AM

That turkey will fit in the top case of the GS once you get one. Then you can do up your turkey and take it to the relatives on your GS rather than inviting them over. This has the advantage of being able to leave when the conversation gets too boring.

Congrats on the new ride. They are a blast.

signit98 11-28-2009 11:41 AM

Sergio,

Now would be a good time for you to reflect on your time at the top. How did this sticky affect you life? Was the attention too much for you? What about the paparazzi, they were annoying, but the attention was nice, was it not? Now that it has ended is life different? Can you walk down the street again without being mobbed by fans wanting autographs?

:D

Good Questions all and what the Paparazzi really want to know is:

Have you crashed your black Escalade into any good Fire Hydrants & Trees lately because of this? :D

Rapid Dog 12-01-2009 12:36 PM

Serg, I saw a set of Ohllies for an R12GS over at ADVRider this week...also there's a sale on the FLEXX bars thru the FLEXX website...
Oh, saw a stock GS screen over there too.

I like this pic, mostly because of the two PCs in the Garage. The one on the right isn't even an ATX chassis, it is an old AT. I thought I was the only one that had that crap laying around.
