Confused: Chip or Controller Module?

I'm in the process of installing a SJ inlet/powerfilter and a new exhaust system, although I haven't decided which one (probably staintune, but maybe laser, vanderlinde, or remus), and I'm not sure if I also need to add a FIM chip or fuel injection controller.

Is a chip or FI controller module required when adding these parts?

If not, what are advantages of adding a chip or controller module?

Do they essentially do the same thing? Is one better than the other?

The chip seems a bit limiting as you have to dig a bit deeper in to the bike to install and if you make changes to the bike in the future you may need to order another chip. Is that correct?

With the FI controllers, or at least some of them (power commander, techlusion) you have the ability to adjust the mapping to suit your needs. Is this necessary to dial in the optimal performance for the specific bike setup? Or will the FRK system provide similar power/performance improvements with the new parts I'm adding to my bike?

I like the simplicity of the FRK system and would prefer not having to mess around with changing the FI settings, but I also want to realize the performance gains from the modifications I make.

As a note: I live at 6200 feet elevation. Not sure if this is important in selecting one of these products.
