Anyway, for me this is a BMW forum as it's the R1100S that brought me here and the R1200S that has kept me here. So if it just becomes so multi-dimensional that the marque is consistently panned, then it's not worth my time regardless of how YOU define the forum.

I don't mind discussing other marquees, if it happens (like it usually does) in the context of discussion a certain type of bikes and the activities involving said bike. In this case the S1000RR. Not allowing to do that is like censoring... I think in the past 8 or so years, we've had enough of that. If you are looking for one-dimensional, you might want to turn your back on the internet in general. I for one, however, would miss your humor and the insight you so frequently offer. As for Chris, however biased his viewpoint may be, he does offer good insight as well. Well educated on the topics and with solid foundation, I might add. I appreciate it and don't mind a critical undertone. If I become Mr. America, I will fight for world peace...

And was before I ever even heard of this forum. Chris just seems to have been realistic about how the teams fare. Again, totally welcome. Much nicer than cheerleading.

I do marvel at this because most on this forum have rejected the idea that you can just change the channel and be in the HP2S/S1000RR room for the same thing you have in the R11/12S TECHNICAL forum. This forum is REALLY more of a chat room for those of us who own or owned the R11/12S at one time. Hell, it's even into photography. Get real Roger. It's called Darwinism.

Just to set the record straight.....I never have proposed censorship on this forum or any other. Nor do I advocate this being one-dimensional. Maybe you guys are into the same mind-reading I am accused of.
The double standard appears to be the anger I've seen against cheerleading which is about as harmless an activity as can be. So Roger prefers Chris' constant pragmatic BMW bashing from his educated viewpoint. Good for you.....I just get as tired of that as you do the cheerleading. So we'll have both....which is fine. I'll just reserve my right to comment on the one-sided comments from across the pond....label them for what they are and deflect the moderator hammer as best I can. That's all. When I become King of the World I will outlaw instant grits and fight for the right of cheerleaders to wave their pompoms.

Fair enough Bob. Funny thing is, I don't see Chris bashing BMW much. But to you pom-pom types, not waving pom-poms with you, IS bashing, so you see everything as bashing.
And there's no double standard. People get sick of cheerleading when this place is nominally and notionally technical (which implies objectivity). Some folks just post reality checks and stick to the facts, so, they get bashed for bashing. Ridiculous. When I'm king, pom-pom wavers will be forced to eat instant grits.

To Bob and other fellow "Gritors." Growing up as a very young child, I stayed at my Papa's house which had neither running water or electric service and of course, they had no car. Still......all of the memories there are golden to me now. One thing that stands out was the type of breakfast we often had. My favorite was when Granny, cooking on the wood burning stove, would put together a "good morning" meal of fresh Bantam eggs whose yoke was always a orange/yellow red, slow cooked fresh water fish roe that she panned in butter lightly till dry and taunt on the outside, rock ground yellow grits that were not all exactly equal in size and which took about 30 minutes to cook, of course her made-from-scratch biscuits, were not perfectly shaped ones like people eat now........but their "um-mm factor" was top of the chart.......cane-syrup, clabber in cup, and fried hand sliced white side bacon, were on the table as well if someone wanted. Blue Berry and Quince Jelly plus wild (from a tree) honey were always close by. To this very day......yellow stone ground grits, fresh pan fried fish roe, and free range chicken eggs for breakfast remains number one for some of us who are seriously from the deep American South.

Why should i be obviously happy??, first and foremost i'm a motorcycle racing fan,i've seen it on the inside, but prefer it on the outside, with a balanced unbiased opinion,i'm no more pro BMW than i am Yamaha/Kawasaki or anyone else, what i certainly am is a realist,on paper the Kawasaki have a better pair of riders than BM,bike wise i don't think there is anything in it,the BM is faster, but Suzuki have been faster than everyone else for years, doesn't mean a thing,as all the racers say,'It's all about the package ![]() |

Meanwhile back at PI. Chris, I finally sat down and watched the race on Speed. Cameras in the wrong place, not enough time spent in the pack where the real racing was going on, lots of lowsides. No reruns of the earlier warm-up where Haga gets knifed in the back by Crash Xaus. SBK needs to come up with a season pass for those who don't want to just see the editors version of a motorcycle race sandwiched in with the bizillion commercials. I'll check the final standings in October.
