They're still in there. You can tell by the little step just inside each opening and you can see they extend about 2 1/2 inches in with a smaller diameter. But the most tell-tale sign is there's no hole at the bottom of each tube where the spot weld would be drilled out.
To take them out use a 5/16 inch drill, find the spot weld, and drill it out. Then put some penetrating oil around the edge, not wd40, something good. Wait a while then stick a broom handle or dowel in there and work them side-to-side and up and down until they loosen and come out. Some come out easy, some don't. Mine didn't. By the time I got them out they were almost unrecognizable from the slide hammer treatment.

Could I assume with them out there will be an increase in flow and HP or just more sound?

Yes, more hp.
Stock HP x 2 pipes - 2 dbkillers = ??????

Seriously 5HP by just taking those suckers out, humm any chance of really doing damage to the pipes? Is that a dyno RWHP or just seat of the pants guesstimate.

he's kidding. if you want to gain 5 RWHP then replace the stock header with the cat free Laser unit.

That was the first thing I did for sure. Just purchased a air fuel ratio data logger. As soon as I can get the O2 bung on I can dial it in more. I know, dyno but I like doing stuff myself and having something left over in my tool box. I already like the tone of the BCP w/o the cat so if it will not flow better I dont need more DBs. I can get those from the duck.

I'm not worried about power I know it doesn't come that easy(good rule of thumb: each hp over stock=$100) how much more bark?

i just pulled the db killers out of the mufflers on my 05 bcr and didn't notice a whole lot of difference in the sound. The bike did start easier and idled a whole lot better though, I have to say that alone made it worth the effort to get those bastards out. It was kind of a pain in the ass(I too had to resort to a slide hammer)we'll see how it runs when I ride later in the week. Temps are supposed to be in the mid 40s and I can't wait to get out

Interesting, better start and idle. I bet when you take her out and crank it on she is going to talk to you a bit louder. I might do it. I am just fearful of messing up the cans. I have 15K worth of sticking them in there.

The biggest improvement with the '05 Laser system is with the removal of the cat and insertion of the Laser Sport Collector (I think this is what they call it), or something similar to this. I was originally told that the db killers were a zero backpressure addition that changes the tone, not the flow. Changing the pipe, removing the dbk's and changing the chip made a very noticeable difference overall.

"worth the effort to get those bastards out. It was kind of a pain in the ass"
Yep. But agree... you lose the almost 'fluffy' sound at idle/low revs. I'd recommend it but be patient as it could take an hour or so of coaxing to get them out without damaging anything (suggest you remove the mufflers from the system and do it in the garage & not on he bike, as you could damage the rear bodywork) |

Greetings,
To Remove:
To reinstall use a small SS screw, lock washer and bolt.

There is one more way. I did this....it takes a little more time. I used a die grinder and milled the spot weld from the inside so I would not have a hole. As described above will be easyer and a little hole at 6 oclock is no big deal. After all that I still was not happy and bought staintune.....I`m happy.
