Some of that fear can be useful, Mac. If someone breaks into my house in the middle of the night they don't need to fear me reaching for a cell phone to call the Sheriff. They need to fear a .357 round in the chest.

I hate it when they don't have the natural audio to go along with the video. Covering the sound of a helicopter gunship with a song is just plain wrong.

Back to topic though... imagine if the car did not have the in-dash video setup? I'm pretty sure the LEO wouldn't be facing a trial right now if that were the case.

Very true, it protects both parties. In general I think most cops have good intentions and I admire them for their service, but as said their, are a few that spoil it for the others.

We have all meet the cowboys with a Napoleon complex, or were picked on in High School and so they want to get back at every one else.

Part of the problem is the "brotherhood" mentality, that keeps them from policing their own ranks and getting rid of the bad ones. Same for Dr's and Lawyers, the few bad, can ruin it for the good, but they don't keep their own ranks above reproach, so it comes back to bite all of them them.

All the critics about the U.S. in this thread are being done by Americans or foreigners that don't live here.

Ditto in some states here too, but not in AZ. Obviously, I'd not try such a thing without being totally clear on the law. In fact, I even argued for a minute with the cop (I was openly wearing a .45 on my hip too). He said nothing about that. He said we were taking advantage of people. I countered, "But you guys ran out of gift cards and we're offering cash! How is that taking advantage of anyone?" But we were in a church parking lot and the cop said the church wanted us to leave. That suffices as a trespassing warning and he knew I knew that. So we left and went to the police station, which is public property and where we were breaking no laws. Face to face transactions between residents of AZ are totally legal here. I've bought and sold plenty of guns in parking lots.

In most places gun ownership is a privilege not a right and that privilege can be revoked if you are deemed unsuitable to own a firearm, just like your driver’s licence can be revoked it you disobey the road rules. It seems the situation is not much different in the US. :D

I believe the Supreme court would disagree with you. It is most definately a right & not at some politicans whim to deny or allow as it is in your country. As you say you cannot carry a concealed firearm, but as you can see from others responses it is very common here. Only felons are denied this right & even that has not always been true.

Totally agree with you they come here for the money, as the rest of the population of this country. Eventually they'll integrate with the local culture and become American. Actually their kids unfortunately will not be able to speak spanish. I'm happy that you didn't say that they are coming for the freedom.

I'm sure that all of them can pronounce "San Francisco", "Los Angeles", "El Paso" etc.. better than you.

BTW, I've lived in other countries and I believe that the U.S. is the best country in the world to be a foreigner. No kidding.
