Okay.
A good supplier that asks the right question is Pro Pilot. Another one is Stig Pedersen (sp).

Ball's back in your court.
Are you going to list the 10 guys that just sell yellow shocks?
I think we can pass on the list of a zillion punters , which might be kind of hard to assemble, since there hasn't been a zillion ohlins shocks made yet.

Not the slightest problem any retailer in the UK who sell's other parts as well as shocks(which is the vast majority),they don't ask because they don't know either, and when confronted with the question,e'r,erm, i'm sure the spring that is on will be ok.

Most punters reason a stock shock and spring covers all the angles why doesn't an expensive aftermarket item .

any retailer in the UK? really? and they all don't know? not a one? and they all answer the question the same? amazing.

maybe its different over there, but in the USA most of us don't expect the guy at the parts counter to know everything about everything. we settle for him knowing a little about most things.

personally, i do research before taking the word of just about anyone, especially on high dollar ticket items like suspension.

to bash the dealer because he doesn't know the in's and outs of suspension seems a bit odd. i don't expect the guy at the hardware store to know how long it takes for spar varnish to dry.

why would i expect the parts counter guy to know spring rates, shim stacks, etc? or for that matter, jetting specs for a carb i want to buy, tire pressures for the tires i want to buy or the correct brand/size helmet for my uncle's cousin's head (red hair, kinda thin, collar-length)?

if the person doing the buying doesn't get the right gismo because he didn't know enough about what he was buying to make an educated decision...who's fault is that?

You should hit the search button on here if the info still exists,i don't rememember too many folk on here bothering about their shock spec(Ohlins) many years ago when they were crowing about beating the system by bypassing US Ohlins importer and buying from Europe, the priority was price,as it is here in UK now,and why so many folk realise after buying they are on a steep learning curve.

i tried the search engine.
didn't find a bunch of americans rubbing their hands together because they screwed the us ohlins system. nor did i find a bunch of guys buying from europe because it was cheaper. not even one.

don't remember reading that either, but i've only been a member for about 7 years, so it was probably before my time.
if it was the case, sure ain't no mo'.

i guess i'm still trying to find out who's the idiot. dealer? uninformed purchaser?
maybe it's your accent, i'm lost in translation.

besides i don't need shocks anymore than i need to visit england.
