Do I need a spring compressor to get the spring off?

Thanks

Aren't you going to get it revalved? Might as well send it into a shop, no?

that shock is quite different than the unit on the R12S, even a modified unit.

Grrrrr, I have to put it back in to take it to the suspension shop I guess. At least there is a (so people say) good one about 45 minutes away and I had some quality "get to know you" time. Droptarotter is away riding (somewhere east - so his wife says) so my resident guru is not available.

Sergio, I think I'll try to set it up with the new spring and not do a revalve yet and see how that goes. I'll learn more - the guy who is going to help me set it up thinks he knows who did the original work on the suspension in Ontario and will have more to tell me when I take it out - hopefully later this week.

Thanks

Just a FYI: HP2S air filter and R1220S air filter (or is it R1100S - from my goodies box)

It does say BMC Air Filters on it - but has a BMW 1371 7716652-03 number injected into the plastic - I think it may be stock.

this is the stock part number for the HP2S air filter: 13717718331

this is the stock part number for the R12S air filter: 13717672552, which matches the one you posted. that is the BMC filter for the R12S.

there is quite a price difference between the 2 stock filters and I have wondered what the actual difference is.

I am using the Pipercross filter.

Forgot exactly what the oem filter looked like but that does look a bit familiar.

Hmm, interesting. The similarities between them go on an on.

Here is the Engine Lifter I'm using. Piece of aluminum in the gap between the exhaust and the motor and some wood to carry the load down past the pipes. It's surprisingly stable.

The one on the left. I seem to recall picking out some gnarly big bugs in that 'catch basin.'

I'm going to have to remember that one. I have yet to take the front wheel off mine for a tire change.
