Relay problem? Please help.
When I click on the left turn indicator it blinks very dimly and slowly, per the dash indicator light, and acts as if it is running out of power. By the third flash it is barely visible then nothing. The same thing happens when I turn in the emergency flashers. The right turn lights work normally in both cases. Your thoughts, thanks.

Forgotten details: this is on a 1999 R1100S, on the left turn side, front and rear. Both front and rear turn signals were upgraded so the are also parking or running lights using an 1157 bulb. The parking lights work fine on both.

Check your wiring for a short or bad ground to left side flash circuit. Did you put one of those electronic signal devices in or just change the sockets? Mine came with one wired in by a moron, took awhile to fix their install after trashing the unit(I think it was a Kisan). Anyway a continuity/volt meter will show you the light.

I replaced the sockets with kits from my dealership about 6 years ago. Never had any problems until now.

Check continuity to ground on the socket to frame. Check voltage to bulb flash contact in socket both to frame & to socket ground(should be the bulb holder body), if the reading is lower at socket ground you have a bad ground, if the voltage is below 12v you're losing power somewhere, either bad wire or switch contact, etc Tracking down voltage/wiring problems is easiest if you track through the wiring in order, ie battery to fuse, fuse to switch, switch to relay etc. A wiring diagram is very helpful to track the path. You might start at where you added running lights into the signals though as that is where things changed from stock.

Pull the lens off the rear and also check the front to see if one or both filaments is lighting up. If you have lost the ground it might be going through the second filament for the ground causing more resistance and making it dim. Something like this happened to me but I forget the exact details.

Thanks to all for your insight and suggestions. The problem ended up being the ground on the left rear turn signal. All is good now.
