Cool Another UPgrade...

Sold my SS Akra system to ChrisP in the UK.
Getting ready for the full Tekarbon motif so I wanted a blue hue (full Akra Ti) on my exhaust, not gold.
Yes, I'm that vain..............

Not sure if those are belts showing on the center of your rear tire but if it is you might want to replace that before you get back out on the road.

I wondered what exhaust you were going to put on Cage.
I figured you were going to end up with an HPE like Shreddr.

LCP, you been going wfo once again??
The Ti Akro on the 12S looks like that, but I have not had time to wring the neck of the HP2 to get my nice shades of purple.

Cheers

I'm a big fan of Akrapovic - the construction quality is top notch, great performance and I personally like the way the muffler looks - plus it sounds good; not too loud w/o baffles. The HPE peels the paint off the buildings as you go by.

From the looks of his tire he never uses the edge.

I've had the good fortune to meet some of the Akrapovic engineers and listen to a few presentations on their designs over the past couple years at titanium conferences, Cage. You'd be a bigger fan than you are now if you had those experiences... wicked smart engineering, but all-around really nice people to boot. They worked with a guy I know from here in the U.S. who helped develop the Ti exhaust on the 'vette Z06.

That's cool.
This Akra Ti for the R12S is a thing of beauty - can't wait for the new exhaust gaskets to arrive so I can bolt up.
Maybe today.....

I'll be interested to hear how your install works out. The only problem I've had with my Akra Ti system is the springs are too loose on the cross-over pipe. The pipe starts to rattle a little after a while and last time I gooped up the joints, but a slight rattle is back now. I was gonna ask around at Laguna whether shorter springs are available. I assume they must be from somewhere.

Is it possible that the heat build-up is weakening the springs?

Try flipping the cross-over tube.
If one spring is loose, it maybe mitigated by altering the position.
You could try different spring from other positions too.

Don't know about the heat build-up. The springs weren't very tight to begin with. I'll try flippin' the cross-over around and see if that helps. I've got most of the exhaust off already as I fabricate a new under-seat storage container to occupy the remaining battery space left over from my Shorai install. If it looks good, will post pics, etc.

Just ordered a set of Metzeler Z8's from Revzilla.
It was a toss-up between these and the new PR 3's.
With PR 3's in 190/55 in short supply or pretty expensive and since i haven't tried Metzeler yet on this bike, we'll give them a try.
Also, these will be the first so-called sport touring tires I've tried on this bike.
With MotoGP in Indy coming up in 5 weeks, they'll have a chance to be put to the mileage test.
Picking up the new exhaust gaskets today so everything should be rolling again mid-week and out on the road again by next weekend.....

I hear ya.
I'm a little concerned about that but these new vintage, Z8, PR3, are supposed to be pretty sport - we'll see.
I figure I'll have a grand on them before I leave for Indy and then that trip will add another 1500 or so.
If I'm not happy after that, I'll likely chuck them and go back to the Pirelli Diablo Corsa Rosso's - their single compound front wore way more evenly than the BT002/003's.
And for my meager skills, they were more than enough for me.
Or maybe M5's, Power One's or.........so many choices.
