I'm very satisfied with the PR3's. I'm even going to put them on the HP2S when the time comes (which is soon).

I was going to try them but 190/55's are hard to find in stock and/or priced reasonably - so I wnet with the Z8's.
Plus, I need tires now...

Cage, It looks like the rubber mount on the Y-pipe does not fit all the way on the metal peg it fits on. I had the same "problem", though it has never really been a problem. How much engaqement is there on yours?

Actually, my engagement is 95-100%.
It's a stepped pin - the Y-pipe rubber grommet fits over the front part of the pin, not the thicker, rear shoulder.
You'll see the thicker shoulder - my engagement on the actual pin is just about 100%.
I find if you mount the Y-pipe first when re-installing the system, you can get it fully engaged.

The Z8's are here

Tires arrived today - my first "sport touring" tires.
Ordered them from Revzilla in Philly - processed and shipped Monday - here Tuesday, free shipping - not bad.
Date codes 0811 for the rear and 0211 for the front - not bad.
Be ready to roooooll this weekend:

Funky tread pattern, is the rear as close to the pipe as it looks in the pic? If so warm up should be quick on the left side. New rubber looks so good.

No, the pipe/tire clearance is fine.
However, this "190" Z8 is actually a bit narrower than the 190 Pirelli DRC.
It looked enough different to me that I first checked again on the tire to make sure they didn't ship a 180 - nope, says 190-55/17.
So I checked the Rizoma torque link clearance - the Pirelli/Bridgestone's had about 2 mm clearance - the Z8 has about 4 mm.
I broke down, got the metric tape measure out and............
The Metzeler Roadtec Z8 is actually a 187-55/17.
Proof once again that while tires sizes are "standard", there is no correlation between tire manufacturer's with their interpretation of these "standards".

Hope it sticks good - we'll see how it feels tomorrow...

Ken, it was pointed out to me yesterday at ATL BMW-Ducati that the contour of the Pirelli on the Diavel is shaped so that even with the wide rear tire, it turns in easy.

Well, you need a tire that can do that with that big cannoli on the back of that thing.
Normally, a 240 tire will have the turn-in characteristics of a V-Rod or OCC chopper.
As that thing wears, I'm sure the "handling" will erode.
IMO, that bike is ridiculous. Unless you enjoy posing with the V-Rod crowd. Then it's your machine...

Not the bike for my tastes, Ken. But, the MS1200 vs 12GS is looking more appealing.

That Akra Ti is a beauty, cageyar. Can't say I'd be interested in Metzler's though. My Michelin Pure's have been great, so far. But I may go Pirelli next.

Speaking of Tekcarbon, though, what's up with the front fairing/windshield issue?
