Motus Motorcycles Sport Tour

Motus must be pretty serious about their bike(s).
A group of us from Savannah are riding to the event near Athens on July 30th.

I saw a couple of these Motus bikes on I-70 just outside of Grand Junction last week. The guys caught up to me and passed me. I stopped, put the helmet cam on, and caught up to them. The bikes sounded pretty cool, which I am sorry to say my video does catch doing 80+, real fun on a G650. I stopped and talked to the guys for a bit, they were on their way to Denver, from the salt flats.

Sorry about the dirty lens, just pulled over and threw the camera on quickly.

Good one Rob. It looks like they were having some fun with you. Now I need a job like that, riding someone else's motorcycle around the country.

Hydraulic valves, 2 valve in line arrangement, 11.5:1 compression, cylinders 90 degree opposed, cam in the valley, wet clutch, chain drive. They were using 53 mm Ohlins inverted forks. The designer said the swing-arm is built extremely light and they use an Ohlins rear shock mounted at a 45 degree angle. Engine is integral part of the frame structure. If I remember right he said the V4 is dynoed at 160 hp.

EZ has some photos that I took of him "flat-footing" the bike. If you've met Tom, you know that's something. If you have a 35" inseam like one dude that sat on the bike, you won't like it at all. Bike had custom headers to 2-bros cans and sounded wicked at high revs. Didn't appear to be a quick as the 1198 Duc.

Duke, ask your riding buddy that just got thrown out of the house where my photo is?

Excellent impromptu camera work Rob!!! They plan to build their factory in Birmingham, AL I'd really like to see them make it; but, the two wheeled market is a tough one to break.

Yeah, they were pretty mellow till I pulled over and put on the helmet cam, then caught up, then they went nuts, it was a lot of fun.

That's what the designer and the marketing material shows. I'm sure there will be some adjustments once they move to production, but the bike appears to be on the small side and really looks light, not a lot of bulk to it. And I'm sure the weight is without bags, etc.

Cool. I really, really, really like those bikes. I WILL get one barring ergo issues or crazy prices.

Like Bubba said, unless you're a 6 footer plus, the bike will be comfortable. It's a little more upright than an S with the bars above the triple clamp. Plus the handle bars felt wide, and very adjustable. You can't tell much just sitting on a demo bike, but the seat didn't jump out as being obviously wrong, like the S where you instantly slide into the tank.

Yeah, you can tell it wasn't designed by Massimo Tamburini.

Chris, I asked the question about the pipes and the reps said they are still in the design phase. They put together a package that would get them on the road testing the frame, engine and suspension concepts.

Did you get any feedback from the riders? what did they tell you about the bike itself?

I hope they get good results out of their tests. I would really like to buy one. It's been 14 years since I bought a brand new bike. I think it's about time.
