Noob R1100S owners - Left Cam Chain Tensioner Upgrade
Surely you recent noob R1100S owners have noted the rattling sound of your left cylinder on initial startup that goes away as soon as the oil pressure reaches normal.
There's an upgrade that goes a long way to eliminating that racket. I did mine ~17k miles ago as well as two more local R1100S owners. Everyone is happy. ![]() Here's a few Pelican threads on the subject for you to contemplate if yours has not been upgraded: Retrofitting Late-Model Left-Side Cam Chain Tensioner Cam Chain Tensioner Replacement New left side cam chain tensioner, $25 shipped Restarting a warm engine

Thanks for bringing this to the top. I installed mine shortly after getting my r11s. Very simple to install and no more noise.
