BMW Roundel NooB introduction

NooB introduction.....
I just bought a 2001 R1100S, rather nicely setup other than suspension. I have a 2002 R1150RT as well. I mainly bought the 1100S for summer/shorter rides than the RT. Love the RT but wanted something more sporty with less wind protection for the warmer weather. My immediate wants for the S are a tank bag that I can swap from bike to bike (to put all of my electronics in), a better saddle (came with Corbin and stock. I'm not a Corbin fan, RT has a DayLong), and a better windscreen (not sure whose screen is on there). I have already ordered a Wilbers rear shock from Ted Porter after a rather lenghty conversation with him. My RT has Ohlins.
The 01 1100S came with the saddles as stated above, RD Bar backs, aftermarket oil cap, signal minder, Staintune pipe/Cat eliminator, Thottlemeister, System cases with regular and city lids, K&N filter and probably a few more things I have forgotten to list here. It turned over 34K miles during my test ride and I have put another 600 miles on it the past week and a half (after putting new tires on and changing engine, gearbox and final drive oils). I'll be sending a gearbox oil sample to Blackstone labs for analysis and possibly pulling the gearbox to check/lube the splines this winter.
So far it has been everything I was looking for.......though the tank range is considerably less than the RT.

Nice bike Russ. Everybody agrees that the 2001s were the fastest too.

Welcome!

Russ -- Great rationale for having an 'S' . . . I have an '02 Titan Silver, which I really enjoy. Welcome.

Welcome - my cousin has an RT like yours. I like the older RT styling better than the new R12RTs.
