Removing Cat from R1200S

Has anyone been able to remove the cat converter from the stock R1200S pipes? or is this false economy?

.

...here you go : …how to mess-up your R12S pipes and cat in a few simple steps…

...wouldn't do it again though...
...bought a set of HPE pipes a year later, and they perform much better...

Actually,if you remove the cat,you have to insert a pipe of the same diameter of the pipe going in and out of the cat chamber. * Else, you have created an expansion chamber in line.unless you plan to also convert your motor into a two stroke, it's not very beneficial.

I did it that way on my GS and it worked very well after. ..Still does.

I waited two years for Remus availability to return. I installed my Remus headers to a stock BMW muffler unit. (I don't like loud bikes.) No digital jetting box was required.

Noticeable improvement. No more back pressure on decel, and a free'r revving motor. Best thing I've done for my bike, really.

Last time I talked to Remus USA distributor they said they had four units in Austria. I got one of the 4.

A couple more notes:

The Remus provides a drone at sustained speed. If you really want to retain a quieter bike, go for the Staintune w/o CAT w/crossover pipe. Both Remus and Staintune will not ship to California destinations.

When installing a new header, be sure to do a re-torque on the exhaust nuts, they've a tendency to loosen up. You'll need new exhaust gaskets for the installation, too.
