Question for those that have done an ABSectomy

I've been doing some research on ABSectomy due to a failure of my servo. My bike is equipped with the Tokico calipers rather than Brembo.

Has anyone done the ABSectomy on a Tokico equipped bike? Just wondering if they perform as well as the Brembos in a non-ABS conversion.

Thanks,
Tom

They are pretty much identical... however, when you take the ABS pump out, you might want... scratch that, you WILL HAVE TO go to steel braided lines.
You will love the way your brakes work and never look back...

Thanks Ralf.
I do plan on ordering up a set of stainless lines from Spiegler. I'm going to use a double banjo bolt at the master cylinder and run each line to a caliper.

I've seen about 3-4 different ways to deal with the lights and settled on separating the electrics from the mechanical servo and leave it in place.

Just gathering the parts and courage to dive in.

I agree with Ralf, the calipers are near identical & should work markedly better than before. I think the separation method is the easiest way also, fortunately mine is '99 & presented no such hassle so I could remove everything. The only hard part is unthreading the metal tubing through the frame to remove it, some tight clearances there. I did the same with the lines, double banjo at the master with 2 separate lines, I think this is the easiest to bleed. You will find great brakes after this is done. Dive in.

I just did mine. It's a piece of cake. Dont forget that you will need to order or fabricate the small hard line that connects the rear brake pedal cylinder to the connection fitting for the rear hose...item #3

I had forgotten all about this and had to fabricate one.

Yeah I forgot about that tube, I just happened to have one from a used non-abs rear brake line laying around when I did mine.

I have a description with pictures partnumbers etc how to do this, unfortunately it is all in German.
I will need an e-mail address to send it.
