Cascade Loop, WA

The North Cascade Highway #20 is open. This was the earliest date I have ever rode over the pass. I like to do the Cascade Loop counter-clock wise. It all started out well going over Stevens Pass then sun and spring blossoms in Cashmere-

Talked to my friend who lives in Winthrop-

Always a good idea to keep the speed down in the Method Valley-

This winter in WA was warm so not as much snow in the mountains-

Things didn't look so good as I started up toward Washington Pass-

What happens when it rains at 32F.? Snow-

Is the GPS trying to tell me something?-

Snowing on the pass but not a lot of snow on the ground. I have seen 10+' up there in previous years-

The joy of a heated jacket and grips-

A little later at the Ross Lake overlook it was in the 50s and sunny. A good day all in all-

I would have taken the S but gas squirts out from under the tank when you turn the key on. Next weeks project.

Very nice, except for that virtually non-existent snowpack!

Which Garmin is that? Is it waterproof? Thinking of upgrading mine, again.

A cheap Nuvi 40 that I bought in a gas station in WY, not waterproof. My old one failed on the way to TOR. I now of two of them so I have a backup on trips.

Nice trip report.. we could use a few more of these. Really like how you pulled off the road into the snow to make it look like more of an adventure.

It would match the white red helmet too.

Notice the "Stich". Did you wear heat too or sound clothing?
Find I can ride to freezing without heat but 29 0r -2C is too cold.
We have to know that stuff here, where the bad weather comes from.
Looks like you a had great ride through some of "God's country."

Bill-

It seemed like a good idea to go into the snow until I was done taking pictures. Took about five minutes of pushing and pulling to get it back on pavement.

Cruzer-

I have a Gerbing jacket and heated grips. I start worrying about ice on the road before I get cold.

Good thing you didn't fall and break a hip… Not sure if Medicaid covers that. You did fill out all your paperwork for that now that you are eligible?

Between my wife's job, my job and that age thing I now have triple coverage. So when I go to the doctor I think they should pay me.
