Source for carbon hugger rear fender?

I'm having no luck finding it online.... should I just ask my dealer? Where can I get the best price?

try this link

http://www.sierrabmw.bigstep.com/item.jhtml;$sessionid$SKRMOTQAABFQJTZENUEUTIWPERWRJPX0?UCIDs= 820323%7C820401&PRID=665656

They are a lot cheaper than A&S and the customer service is above average.

Mitch Herman @ Motorsport Imports has 'em (Ilmberger...nicest looking in my opinion). I think he'll do better than most pricewise. He's also a tree care customer of mine in New Jersey, so please tell him that Jerry from Bartlett sent you. His number is 732-752-5099.

Does anyone know if Ilmberger has addressed the hugger failures that some folks here have experienced? Here is a previous thread that talks about it: Ilmberger Hugger Failure .

It would be nice to know if there have been any improvement to the bracket, so that a newer one could be requested when ordering it.

I'm only purchasing this one because the previous one failed and is lying on the side of a road somewhere. Didn't even hear it go.

That price sounds about right
Moto
Yes they have been improved! Very well designed aluminum mount piece laminated in. Looks to me like it was designed to go the duration.

Dave, that's good to know. From the pictures of the older failed bracket it has the look of a sintered metal part, which would not have nearly the flexural strength of a formed flat stock of say 6061 aluminum. Hopefully, it will hold up this time around since those of you that have had failures are very lucky that it didn't turn out worse. That's a big hunk of stuff to possibly get jammed somewhere it shouldn't be, not to mention the poor unsuspecting guy or gal behind you that might have to wear it as a face shield.

glad to hear of the improvement - my break looked exactly like the one posted in the thread above - doesn't that piss you off when you have to replace items you've already purchased and installed?

Shannon, I just contacted Tom Lynn, the parts manager at Sierra BMW. I asked if he knew of the improvement in the Ilmberger hugger and if he had them available. He told me that he was aware of the problems, but the two failures that occurred on huggers that he has sold were replaced under warranty by Ilmberger. If you purchased your hugger through Sierra BMW, try contacting Tom, tom@sierrabmw.com , to see if you can get a new one under warranty replacement. He indicated that Ilmberger stands behind their products, so even contacting them directly might be worth a shot if you purchased it elsewhere.

the first one came with the bike... i don't feel as if I have any recourse here. If this one fails, I don't think I'll even bother with their product moving forward... though I do have the receipt.

ilmberger

Dave, have you seen a picture or specimen of the "improved" hugger? I have one that is 2 yrs old, and to the naked eye looks ok, but I can't say I haven't felt some trepidation since those recent failures were reported.
