Z3 2.8 coolant temp sensor location

Hi,
I just bought a very clean 1997 Z3 2.8. Still getting my head around it. Has an erratic idle on cold start. Read it could be the coolant temp sensor sending bad signal to computer. Need to tap some of your accumulated wisdom. Does anyone know where this sensor is located? There seems to be a sensor top right of radiator, but that seems too simple.
Thanks,
RFD

It should be mounted on the cylinder head under the intake manifold. I belive there's two of them. One is for the gauge. When the car is in cold start mode it will run with added fuel until the needle is out of the blue. With your issue it sounds more likely the IACV is dirty or the intake boot is leaking.

Hey, I had the same issue. I changed boot, inatke gasket, thrtl bdoy gasket,injectors,coils,maf....turns out it was a faulty cam sensoe intake and exhaust...both I ordered from pelican...dont use the oem or aftermarket...get the genuine...these cars are picky when it comes to sensors..the tolerances is so small...good luck.
