SOLVED: new battery but flashers on when I open door ?

I replaced the battery in my '98 Z3 today. Very simple. My problem is when I open the doors, the emergency flashers go on. They stay on if the doors are open, but if I close the doors they flash for 30 seconds or so, then stop.

I am able to start the car, and I also did the radio code successfully.

I'm thinking that this might relate to the keyless entry. I've locked and unlocked the doors with the remote, but not change.

Any ideas on what is going on?

Thanks,
John

From searching the Web:
1) Unlock doors with the mechanical key
2) Insert key in ignition
3) Turn to accessory setting (computer comes on) for less than 5 seconds
4) Remove key
5) On remote, hold lock button down while pressing unlock three times

This worked for me.
