Cam Chain Guides

New Porsche owner. 2001 Boxster S. 47k. 3.2L.
I love the forum and thank you everyone for all the great info. I have never posted on any forum before, so lets get to it. As many, I am asking for some help and owner advice.
I am pre-qualifying for an IMS Solutions retrofit.
First roadblock. Cam deviation results seem high. bank 1 @ 5.94, bank 2 @ 6.94 steady at 700 rpm engine at operating temp of 185f.
Question: I know I can change out the Variocam activation shoes with engine in car but, can I also change the cam chain guide rails also, without removing the heads?
Any advise would be welcome, I plan on dropping the hammer on this garage queen...
I recently switched toys from motorcycles to sports cars, and I am glad I did, and decided on this car. Man is this thing fun.

I haven't seen anything yet that might give me any sources or help on this, I can tell everyone is sick and tired of the IMSB talk. I guess I'll just have to go for it...I'm pretty good on stuff myself and love working on this car! Still lurking around and gaining lots of knowledge for all of you. Thanks... The Hip

Thank you mikefocke. I am putting tools together and checking current cam deviation. Both banks are at high limit. (5.9 & 6.9) This is a low mileage car (48k), with a clean SPEEDiagnostic oil report, clean sump and a clean spin on filter. I want to get the deviation down by doing cam timing and variocam shoe replacement, before I do the IMSolution, clutch and rms.
This forum is so helpful and the members priceless.
