Thanks to COVID, I don't drive my car very often – maybe twice a month. Now my car won't start and since my service records indicate the battery is more than four years old, it's probably time for a new battery.
So imagine my shock when I found that the OEM battery for my car is $3,600?!?!?! The battery for a base or S car is $239. After comparing model numbers, this is the battery that is actually sitting in my car now, and was dealer installed. So my question is: What the hell is this $3,600 battery? Is it lightweight? Does it add 50hp? Any idea what the deal is? ![]() |

Has the Porsche emblem.
Did you check our Host's offerings? Not anywhere near those $$$ I guess a battery is among the parts one shouldn't get at the dealership (stealer-ship??) |

Get an Antigravity battery and you’ll be fine.

Why assume you need it replaced before charging it and then load testing. Surely you or a friend have a charger.
And if you need a new battery, just accept the fact that you won't have the OEM specific battery and use a 12v AGM battery that fits and has a vent tube. |

Funny, I drive my car MORE due to Covid.. You must be doing it wrong
![]() While I don't set the prices, that does seem kinda spendy.. maybe its appropriate for a modern collector car? sheesh though, that does surprise me.

Unless you're going for some weird concourse angle, there's no reason to ever buy a battery from Porsche. Exide is the OEM for a lot of Porsche batteries and overall, almost all the car batteries out there are made by 3-4 manufacturers.
