Is a PIWIS the only way to remove 'Transmission emergency run/limp mode'?

Hello all. My 2010 Boxster is currently disabled with the white 'transmission emergency run' error. It was generated by a failed coil, now replaced.

I've tried every combination of tips and tricks on the web (discharging stored power, key/door lock combos, engine/ac/door combo, rented a Durametric, voodoo) but my car just sits there, idling away in D.

I've called the local dealership and my appointment is on the 14th (12 more days...). No local independent has a PIWIS.

I was told I could have it towed in and if they get free time they'd do it earlier, but if there's something I can do in the interim I'd rather try it.

Thanks in advance.
