Calipers, Are these 4 posts removable? And what metal is the hardware made of?

Does anyone know if the 4 metal posts that hold the pads in place are removable? Also, what metal is the calipers hardware made of? I was thinking about polishing them, but afraid that it may rust.

Looks like they're held in with the roll pins. I'd guess you remove the roll pins (drill out? not sure) and tap the posts out.
