Particle Filter

Hi All- New to Boxster world. Fantastic car 01 S. Have 2 questions- I purchased the box ' used. I have replaced the Carbon Particle filter in the front bay at the recommendation of other Porchephile. I discovered that removal is simply but I can understand if the filter has cover over it or not.Does the pleated filter just laid open to the the front compartment. Or should their be a cover to which it doest have now? 2nd,Have any here done their own 15/30 K services? It seem rather routine and yet dealer ask for 1K for the work?

Thanks In advance-

Find an independent Porsche specialist. I've been quoted $385.00 for the 15K and $750.00 for the 30. A grand for the 15 is ridiculous.

There is no cover for the filter, as you have seen.

Us local owners do our own service. I think the last was 60,000 miles.

Thanks for the reply... Can you make a recommendation on a shop manual? Is Hayes still the way to go.?

FYI.. I had the two front wheels balanced on a Hunter 9700 Load balancer. ..It is worth every penny, $21 for each side. If you feel even a little vibration after the balancing job it NOT from the wheels/tires . Its that good... And it pays huge benefits on a Boxster with its directly wired to your brain steering feel.

Thanks Again Bob

There is no aftermarket shop manual. The factory shop manual is very expensive and not much use for a DIYer. We started filming stuff and puting in on DVDs for this reason.

Bently has said for a few years that they might come out with a manual. They asked my mechanic friend at my local dealership to do it but he did not have the time. They must have found someone as he has been sent drafts.
