Lightbulb reset of check engine light

OK, I have experienced a few of the "check engine" light problems. O2 sensor replacement, seat belt recepticle replacement, etc.

Last week, I had to get gas at a place where they had to pump it and SURE THING, the dummy did not put the gas cap back on. I drove it for a day without a gas cap before I could get to a dealer to replace it. Now the bloody "check engine" light is on and it is too much of a coincidence with the gas cap which I know can cause it.

How do I get rid of the bloody light without going to the dealer. On the Mercedes (more gas cap crap with check engine), you just disconnect the battery for a while and it resets. Is it that way with the Boxster? I would hate to hastle with the radio, windows, etc. if it does not work.

Just keep on driving and if the fault is not dected again the light will go off, if you do not want to do the battery thing.

Talking Many thanks

I did the battery thing anyway and guess what..............it went out and stayed out. A lot cheaper than 1 hour minimum at the dealer.......................................

Thanks for your comment.

Cool

I have a "Boxster" and a "RETRO BOXSTER".........you are right. When I got the Boxster, I could not resist buying a rat eaten 914 that had been in a storage locker for over 20 years and restored it. It is certainly more of a challenge to keep running than the NEWer Boxster.
