Boxster window issues
Maybe someone can help me on this one. The drivers window on a 2001 boxster S goes down the 1/4'' when the handle is pulled. Once the handle is released it goes back up. What could be causing this. Is it the window regulator or something else? Can you tell if you take it apart? Thanks for any help

That is normal vehicle function. When the handle is pulled, the door catch releases and the door swings open. With frameless windows, the window inserts into weatherstripping which is fixed to the car. If the window did not go down that 1/4 inch when the handle was pulled, the window would catch and be stuck in the weatherstripping, preventing the door from opening and possibly damaging the window. Porsche made it so that when the handle is pulled (whether the door is opening or not) the window retracts enough to clear the gasket and allowing the door to open smoothly. It stays down, I think, until the door striker catches and the window can dock in the weatherstripping. I had a 2002 Boxster S and I though this feature was cool and showed the quality and attention to detail of Porsche engineers.

The whole thing is once you release the handle the window goes back up, it doesn't stay down to close the door properly. The passenger side is fine.

You'll have to take the door panel off. There is a micro switch that needs replacing (Sounds like anyway). It's on the door handle.
