986 acceleration issues
Started a week ago, the acceleration has been acting very strange. on every gear prior to changing, the acceleration seems to stay up there for a short while even though i let go of the gas pedal. is it the pedal stuck? or any maintenance issue i should be aware of?
thanks all |

Firstly you need to advise as to which car you have. The early ones have a cable operated accelerator while the later ones are egas.
If you have the early one it should be easy to check for kinks etc in the cable. If egas you would need to have someone operate the throttle and check for a smooth return. |

Hi it's for an 97 986 2.5l. Thanks for the input. I don't think it is the cables as it revs fine when it is in neutral. I'm not having a problem accelerating but yet it's the deceleration that is delaying. I wonder if the maf sensor can cause this. Thanks

Most "new" cars, when you get off the gas, do not completely shut down as the computer requires the car to burn the "un burnt" fuel (emissions related programming). Now, perhaps this is being exagerated for some reason, or you are simply more in-tune with it? Perhaps your foot isn't really coming off the pedal? is a floor mat stuck in there?
