Common A/C issues for '99 986

My neighbors '99 986 has an A/C failure. I was looking over Project 7 in the 101 projects book and it recommends looking at: 1. Belt, 2. Clutch engagement, 3. Power source, 4. Pressure switch, and 5. The diagnostic codes

Is there any commonality to A/C failure to a 1999 ?

Not really, you basically need to troubleshoot the steps. All of this of course assumes the system is full of refrigerant and up to the proper pressures...
