Porsche Noob Intro
Hello all, I'm glad I found this wonderful place! I'm new to the world of Porsche--bought this exquisite '06 Boxster on July 28th, 2010 and after 5 months I am still on cloud nine. The wife and I ended up with two SUVs and since we don't have any children, I asked her if she would like a convertible. She agreed, so my search began. I looked at everything from Z4's to Solaras, to Miatas to Vettes. But when I found this beauty, I was hooked--couldn't sleep at night. Looked at it for two weeks, did as much research as I could, waffled a bit (reading about all the RMS problems) and finally called the Porsche dealership while on vacation. Drove back the next day and test drove it. Brought it home that afternoon. So the wife has her Honda and I have Betty Blue as my daily driver.
Just received Wayne's wonderful book--it's very well done. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Thanks for the kind words on the book, and welcome to the forums! I think that you made the wise choice - the Boxster, now that the older models are somewhat more affordable, is really the car of choice in this category. When it came out, it really blew everything away (Z3, Miata, Audi TT), in terms of handling and overall performance (the "S" model in particular too!). Now, that the cars are older, they are very affordable, and the time is ripe for people to start working on them. I'm also working on a 996 book, as that market will be arriving at its "sweet spot" very soon as well!
