replace spark plugs without jack stands..
 

want to change spark plugs but can't persuade myself to use jack stands...lol

any has done replacement of spark plugs without jack stands?

will ramps be ok for this project?

You'd need at least ramps and sure, they're OK if you can get the car up om them. Some people use a jack to raise the car and slip the ramps under the tires. You have to raise the car pretty high because of suspension droop.

Others may tell you the having the rear wheels off the car provides more light and room to work.

Boxsters are pretty low, but the position of the rear wheels probably allows backing up ramps. You sure wouldn't be able to drive the front up ramps AFAIK.

I just jacked the car up on one side, took the wheel off reached in and did them...first side was slow cause I always take my time while learning. Put the wheel back on went to the other side and flew through the second 3 in 20 minutes. Jack stands never came out, just a block under the frame that the wishbone connects to near the cam bolt for safety.

I have read almost all of them, but the only one I tended not to read is this one.
I also have this book, I read it over and over again, but never read the jacking one. :D

If you're nervous about jack stands, these are what I use. Not cheap, but effective, very stable and *not* made in China:

+1 on these jackstands, I use these to get the car up high enough to remove engine &/or transmission. If your floor is painted these don't crack the epoxy Too.

They are indeed very good on many counts. I don't like jack stands that cost $20 and are made in China. Seems to be those are almost all you can buy these days (except these ones of course).

They look nice and I like the design. I wonder if they are made locally because I bet I could get a job there welding. I know I can weld better than the weld on the RH leg base.

I'm not sure where they are made, but I just sent an email to AC Hydraulic asking if they manufacture this style as well. I'd rather buy them from Denmark and have them shipped with the jacks we import, than buy these piecemeal from the middle of the country.

So, is there a jack-top adapter like the thing you can get for the typical floor jack that makes the jack flat on top?

I have 8 stands and am having a hard time thinking I have room for 10 or 12. ;)
