I have a Porsche 944 that I am selling... but, it was my dad's birthday, and he has been in the market for a TT or Boxster. So, we rented him a 1999 Porsche Boxster with the tiptronic tranny... I am under 25 but drove the car and it is FUN FUN FUN!! The problem is... we are dieing to look under the bonnet to check out the engine... how in the WORLD do we open it up? Is it under the top that it opens? We are totally baffled, and the rental agency doesn't give you the owners manual. Any help as soon as possible would be greatly appreciated, we have to take it back soon

The engine is behind the seats. Hence the mid engine design.

I am well aware that the car is a mid engine design. And I very well know what it means. My problem is that I don't know how to access the engine. How do I pop the hood and check it out? That is what I want to know. Thank you.

So you wanna see der engine
1) retract top to a point where the top attachement handle (leading edge of top) is about 10 inches back from its attachement point.
2) Gently lift the back of the top up to expose the twin ball joint cords (Note:One on each side of top) firmly grab the ball joint and pull awaythe female end from the male end.Do this on both sides 3) If you have the DSP rear speaker box. Go to the passenger side and locate the wire harness attachement (It comes out of the side of the box and the attchement point is behind the roll bar) 4) twist off the two pull tabs on top of the speaker box. Lift out of the way. 5) remove the sound proofing/carpet away. 6) Engine lid: twist off the 6 D-ring handled screw tabs. 7) ENJOY THE VIEW! |
