Floating my 1998 3.4 Boxster

Now that I finally have everything done with my car and am completely happy with it, it's time to sell

I'm really liking the looks of the new Boxster, so here are the details on mine:

Zenith Blue 1998 Boxster with 3.4 transplant (~47K on both the chassis and engine)
original hardtop (painted with the car)
B&M short shifter
Full Fabspeed exhaust (no cats)
original US M030 suspension
GT3 front radiator
underdrive pulley
CDR220 with iPod hookup
GT3 console delete
Graphite grey interior
Full race seat/harness setup

I just got the car back from having Protomotive tune it - it is now putting out over 250 HP at the rear wheels. Anyway, I'm wondering what I could get for it.

My bet is you'd get a number you'd not like. There is a limited market for cars that aren't standard when you take them to a mechanic. Most people who want the non-spec want to roll their own.

You have a car whose seats will limit the appeal. Whose engine mods will too. Whose exhaust will too. Whose IMS will too.

My market watching says major mods almost always negatively affect the value of a car.

I hope for your sake you get lucky and find a buyer who thinks exactly like you.

Agreed. I think if you have the original seats as an option. Some of what you have done is a bonus. Wether or not a track car. It's not going to effect the daily driving part. The top is also a bonus. If the person that wants the car doesn't want the top. Well there is something you can sell elsewhere.

Just curious. Is there going to be a replacement project car?

Great looking ride and wish nothing but the best for you. I'd buy it as is and just enjoy it.

All that said. It's worth exactly what you can get for it. All the rest is prognostication.

Randy

I have the original seats in most of the time - for being 15 years old, they are still in remarkably good condition:

As for being "nonstandard", all of the parts used in the conversion were Porsche parts - I have a complete list of all the swap parts - Cayman clutch, Cayman airbox, new flywheel, etc. Protomotive progammed the computer such that you can plug it into any PST II and it will recognize it as a standard Boxster computer.

You're right - I doubt someone would offer me what I would need to get out of it - I would have to get $25K+ to make it worthwhile to sell.
