The other day my CEL light came on. I found one of the O2 sensors loose on the rear nearside cat (UK). After tightening this up the light was still on as I new it would be from passed experience. Because I have still not got a code reader, I thought I would do what I did last time, disconnect the battery to remove the CEL light. The fact is I have been too busy to do this at the moment, so I just left it. Today, about 5 days since it came on, the CEL light has gone of its own free will. I just wondered if this is normal? and will the code still be stored in the system to read when I finally get my Durametric? Boxster 2002 S 85,000 miles.

When the problem that set off the emissions code is fixed, eventually the DME will reset and clear the code and the check engine light; this is completely normal.
