After installing the LED tail lights on 02 Boxster...
Days ago i had a post regarding these aftermarket taillights.
![]() ![]() aftermarket LED tailight problem. Pic inside Last weekend I installed them.... The small light bulbs on the side has to be removed.....not sure what light it was..possibly an aux fog light? But it has to be gone otherwise the circurt board wont snap on... Here is an new issue I have after installation... The right light, the led light won't be on....all the lights on the left unit works.. I think it is fog light??? Well... This is not too much affecting my driving.. cuz I have symetric brake light, symetric turn signal, symetric tail light (turn on when the headlight is on)... but I dont have symetirc fog light (turn the light knob to the end and pull it up)... I am curious what is causing the problem... 1, could be the light itself is defect??? not very likely..but I can doublechek... just run 12V thru to see if he LED light is on... I assume the red is pos, black neg... Or is there any other better way to check? It is LED i guess you cant measure the ohm reading directly, can you?> I remember I measured the voltage of the two wires, it should be 12v, but I got 0 volt..Looks like the power is not fed to the LED unit..... 2, Something wrong with the wiring in my car???? It could be a pain in the rear end.......Is there any fuses for each light bulb for the tail light unit?? Or just one fuse for the whole light unit... It would be easy if I only have to replace a fuse...If would be a disaster if the internal wiring is messed up... well...guys...help me... |

Nothing is wrong with your car.
Fog lights are designed to work on one side only. So if you have a US car, only the left one works. In the UK, it will be the right one. The little bulb you removed, belongs to the corner running light. I have the same lights, and I gave away the fog lights (that I don't use). I cut the wires ( on both sides) extended them, and connect them to the other LED brake light. So basically when I brake, I have all 4 lights on. Another thing, don't waste your time and money tring to fit the other lights (tail and signal) with LED bulbs. It will not work. Because of the structure of the bulb plates, the polarity is reversed, and will not activate a standad LED bulb. |
