Hi, I have just Installed some secondhand speedo pods in may 97 boxster. The broken ones needles did not work but had a OBC which worked fine. The new ones I fitted had exactly the same part number (986 641 107 01 70c.) and works fine but the OBC does not display. The stalk is there from factory when new. Has anyone got any Idea or suggestions that could help. Many Thanks, Mark, London, England. Proud owner of 1997 Ocean Blue RHD Boxster.

I don't know if this may be a solution or not, but it's worth a try.
Seeing you have purchased a new dial cluster the first thought that came to mind was that the OBC had not been enabled within the new cluster. Porsche service centres can enable the OBC feature. As standard all Boxsters come with OBC built into the software/cluster, but it is only enabled if you purchse the corresponding control stalk at time of purchase. Maybe the cluster you purchased came from a car without OBC option, therefore it might not be enabled within the cluster. So I'd suggest popping down to you local dealership to get it enabled. Unfortunately, unless you have you very own Porsche diagnostic computer, you can't do this yourself. |
