Removing Boxster Dash Trim
I need some advice to remove the one-piece plastic dash trim on my 2003 Boxster S. This is the piece that is over the center vent and left and right switch panels. The Bentley manual shows the removal of the early Boxster separate switch panels only and says that later model trim is similar. I am concerned about breaking the piece. Do you start at the top, the sides, or possibly need to remove the radio first?
I have a set of the plastic trim removal tools and have used them a fair amount, but I'm a bit stumped with this piece. I am removing the radio and sending it and one of the blank switches to Becker for the addition of an auxiliary input for my iPod. I already have the radio removal keys. Thanks for any help. The trim is held in by spring clips and nothing has to be remove to pull it off. Optimal tool to use in a wooden tongue depressor inserted under the edge of the trim to start the process without marring any finish.

Go to "Youtube" they have a video of the facia removal. They use soft pry bars at 45 and 90 degree angles. I have ordered a set as I need to remove the facia to install a new cup holder. I am like you, afraid I will break the plastic surround. Have not received the soft pry tools yet, will give it a try when they come in. Good Luck!
