Shifter not centering quickly to 3/4 position

2001 Boxster S, 6sp

My shifter is not centering quickly to the 3/4 position. When I go from the 1/2 line or the 5/6 line is sticks and is slow to move over. Mechanic changed the cables, thought it was hanging up, but now they are saying it is in the transmission. Anyone heard of this issue? The car shifts and goes into and out of any gear perfectly fine no issues.

It is a little dangerous as when shifting you cannot count on the shifter to go to the 3/4 alignment and you have to know where that location is. Could be easy to miss a shift and over rev the engine if not careful.
I just had the LN Enginering IMS bearing and a new clutch installed a month ago. Could anything about that install be causing this?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Sounds like whoever did the IMS did not put the gear selectors back on the transmission correctly. Should be an easy fix for someone that knows what they are doing.
